Buddhist Meditation with Monk Benny
Wednesday April 15, 2026 @ 6-8pm
Service Description
Sanctuary is honored to welcome Thai monk Boonyod Nonthong (Monk Benny) for a special evening of meditation training designed for all levels, from complete beginners to longtime practitioners. This session is a gentle yet powerful training of the heart and mind. We will begin with guided loving-kindness meditation (Metta), cultivating compassion, goodwill, and warmth toward ourselves and others. This practice softens the edges, opens the heart, and nurtures emotional balance — a beautiful complement to the intention of Sanctuary as a place where you belong. From there, Monk Benny will guide us into mindfulness (Insight/Vipassana) meditation, developing steady, non-judgmental awareness of thoughts, sensations, and lived experience. Through this practice, we learn to meet life with clarity, equanimity, and presence. Together, these practices offer a grounded path toward inner steadiness, compassion, and authentic happiness. This is an opportunity to sit in community, learn from a devoted monastic teacher, and deepen your relationship with awareness itself. ✨ Please bring a notebook for reflection. ✨ Sliding scale: $20–$40 Sanctuary is honored to host this offering, and all proceeds will be donated directly to the NMR Meditation Center and Buddhist Temple in Raynham, MA in support of their continued teachings and community work. About Monk Benny At age eleven, Boonyod Nonthong began his journey as a novice monk in Thailand. He later studied at the Wat Pho Meditation Center in Bangkok and, at twenty-one, trained in the Vipassana (Insight) tradition under the esteemed Mahasi Sayadaw lineage. His training included approximately three years of intensive daily practice under the guidance of Bhaddhanta Wirosana, Ph.D. He currently resides at the NMR Meditation Center (Wat Nawamintararachutis) in Raynham, Massachusetts, where he continues his monastic path and shares mindfulness teachings with the broader community.
